FALL 2015 TREND REPORT: #BloggersBTS Fashion Week

Today is a SUPER exciting day because it is the first day of the linkup that I am co-hosting with the amazing Cathleen of Classy Cathleen. For more details on how to participate, PLEASE don’t hesitate to email one of us!

With the topic of the week being fashion & back to school, I thought I would do a classic trend report. Basically, I’m going to discuss some of the trends I’ve noticed in stores and from F/W 2015-16 Fashion Week and then show y’all (shoutout to Cathleen) how to style them for school.

#TBT: Boho & Mod Inspiration

Runway: I am loving these throwback to the 60’s and 70’s influences this season. Flowy sleeves, flared pants, fringe (more on this later!), mod A-line silhouettes, bright mod prints… You get the deal. Sometimes its just fun to throw it back a little and channel your inner hippie!

BTS: Wear a flowy blouse with bell sleeves, add some suede to your look or sport a bold mod-inspired print for some boho inspired looks to wear on the first day of school.

Fringe Benefits

Runway: Another season, another dose of fringe! Fringe is everywhere this season. On vests, skirts, jackets, dresses… You name it, add the fringe. My personal favorite? Fringe accessories, especially on bags. Such a fun way to add some pizzaz to your outfit.

BTS: Try a cardigan with some fringes on the bottom or a fringe hemmed blouse. Feeling trendy? Try a fringe skirt or dress (and do a little twirl to feel like a princess!).

Its in the Details: Sheer, Ruffles & Pleats

Runway: I paired these three trends together because they all compliment each other. Often times, a ruffled or pleated garment would be made out of or paired with something sheer. Coincidence? I don’t think so. The feminine aspects of the sheer fabric, paired with the ruffles creates an ultra feminine and chic outfit.

BTS: Try pairing a semi-sheer chiffon blouse with black skinnies and ballet flats. Feeling super girly? Pair that blouse with a ruffled skirt. Still want more? Make your color palette pastels and pair some dainty jewelry with the outfit.

Military Inspired & Olive Green

Runway: Another year, another military inspired collection. Are we over it yet? Of course not. This season, military inspired looks were freshened up with new silhouettes and details, like pockets and buttons. A classic color for fall and an immediate association with all things military: olive green.

BTS: Wear a military inspired coat over a white blouse and jeans. Incorporate more olive into your wardrobe– maybe a pair of colored jeans or a sweater.

Glitz & Glam

Runway: Hard to believe, but these collections also serve as a pre-holiday collection. Do you know what that means? Bring on the sparkles, the holidays are here (well, not quite, but you know what I mean). The runway was filled with glitzy gowns and sparkling skirts. Which one is on your wish list?

BTS: Try a sweater with some sequin elbow patches or detailing. Even silver & gold embellishments on a blouse add an extra sparkle. Who said we had to wait until December to start celebrating and sparkling?

Walking in a Winter Wonderland: Coats n’ Capes

Runway: After living in the polar vortex the past two winters, designers have gotten smart and started designing some cute and functional winter wear. Cue the puffer coats, drapey capes and oversized coats.

BTS: Switch out the usual fleece jacket with a statement coat, or even just an oversized, neutral colored dress coat. Functional and cute? Count me in.

Prints Galore: Florals and Leopard and Plaid, Oh my!

Runway: This season, every other look featured a bold floral or leopard print. Leopard is becoming a new fall neutral. Florals are not just for spring anymore. And plaid worked backwards to the top, seen yesterday on the farmer and today on the runway.

BTS: Try a romantic floral skirt paired with a neutral top. Here’s an easy one: wear your favorite flannel with jeans and boots for an easy look. Looking to be more trendy? Pair your flannel with ripped boyfriend jeans and heels for a sohpisticated yet trendy look. As for leopard– wear it as a printed blouse, a detail on the inside of a coat, a scarf print or leopard printed flats.

The New Neutral: Winter White

Runway: The old rule that white can only be worn in the short months between Memorial Day and Labor Day is old news. Wear white all year and make a statement. Maybe a statement white coat, or a fuzzy all white ensemble. Make a statement by wearing winter’s newest neutral.

BTS: Go for an all white outfit featuring your classic white pants and an extra fuzzy white sweater. Feeling trendy? Add a white coat for a monochromatic statement look. Looking to just experiment? Pair white pants with a pastel or light colored sweater for an almost all white outfit. As you get more comfortable, switch it up and try for all white.

There are of course many other trends for fall and many other interpretations of these trends. As much as I love summer, I am looking forward to fall and BTS to try out some of these new, trendy outfits! I guess that means one thing… time for BTS shopping.
