I’m typically a stick-to-the-plan, type-A kind of girl, but Tuesday was so spontaneous and so fun. My very best friend Lexie, her twin sister Cammie and I headed into New York City to meet Julia of Gal Meets Glam. On Monday, we saw that Julia was hosting an event at the Gap in Herald Square the following evening and decided it was an opportunity we couldn’t miss out on.
The event started at 6pm, so we caught a train right after school and headed into the city. Once we pulled into Penn Station, we grabbed a quick snack at Starbucks and headed to Herald Square. We were actually a little bit early, which gave us some time to snap some outfit pictures 🙂
Once the event started, we waited to meet Julia and her husband Thomas (he also contributes & takes pictures for her blog). We walked around and browsed Gap’s spring line… SO cute! There are so many great pieces for everything from a tropical vacation to a fun day exploring the city.
It was finally our turn, and I have to admit I was a little starstruck. Julia is even more beautiful in person than she is in her photos. First, I got to talk to Thomas a little bit about traveling and photography. It was great to chat with him about the San Francisco/Northern California area, especially after traveling there with my family a few summers ago. If only I had been able to talk to him before we went, we would have had some great local recommendations 😉 We also had both travelled to Alaska so we talked about that for a bit, too.
Then we got the chance to talk to Julia about… shocker, fashion, blogging and travel. It was so cool to hear about her blogging journey and see how far she has come. She started out just like the rest of us did, and now she’s traveling all over the world wearing the most beautiful clothes, still blogging. That is one of the things I love about blogging, it is a constant, it is always there. Throughout the different phases of our lives, our blogs are here to document it all (though I’m thankful I didn’t have a blog during the middle school years…). Julia was so genuine and sweet; we were talking with her for about 10 minutes! Meeting her was such a pleasure and it was something I will never forget!
As we were walking around Gap, we ran into Shelby of The Gold Dime! Shelby and I have talked about meeting up in the city before, so it was funny that we ran into each other here. We only had time to chat for a few minutes, but it was so great to meet in person after many Twitter & email convos! We will absolutely be meeting up in the city again (with Jamie!) in the future 🙂
After that, we walked back to Penn Station, grabbed some snacks for the train ride home at Zaro’s and were en route for New Jersey. We were only in the city for a few hours, but it was so much fun! Having the opportunity to meet Julia & Thomas was something I will never forget, especially because I was able to do it with two of my best friends by my side.
