Hello, friends! Can you believe it’s already the end of the month? As excited as I am for September and to be back at school, the summer flew by! I thought I would end the month with a new kind of post that I hope will become a series on the blog: The Edit. The Edit will be a collection of all kinds of things I’ve been really loving recently: fashion items, beauty/ skincare, quotes, music, movies, blogs… the categories will really depend on the month! I also want to include a little life update at the end of the post. I love connecting with readers and other bloggers and reading other bloggers’ life update posts, so I figured why not try it here? Let me know what you think of this new post style and without further ado, let’s get started!



My fashion mindset for this month has been all about comfort. It’s been so hot and I’ve been working/ on my feet a lot so I always aim for comfort these days. One of my favorite outfits I’ve worn lately is this striped culotte jumpsuit. It is super breezy and comfortable! I most frequently wear it with my black lace up flats, but I love how I can dress it up with a pair of black strappy heels or platforms. I’ve also been spending some time on Pinterest and Tumblr lately, so here are a few looks and trends that have been inspiring me lately.


I’ve also been trying to wear more color lately, at which I’ve been fairly successful so far. My favorite “colorful” outfit I’ve worn this month is the floral wrap dress I wore a few weeks ago in New York City. It’s a little bit bohemian and a little bit girly- I love it and will totally be wearing it into the fall!



My big beauty focus lately has been skincare, to which I devoted an entire post at the beginning of this month. I haven’t really tried any new products, but I am still loving everything in this routine, especially the rosewater sprays. They are perfect for freshening up your skin on a hot and humid day!

Due to both being skincare focused and the hot, humid weather lately, I’ve been wearing minimal makeup. Most days, it’s just concealer, Boy Brow, mascara and tinted lip balm or lipstick. Some days, I’ll add Haloscope highlighter and Urban Decay powder foundation. It’s been so nice to have such a quick beauty routine (5 mins, max!).




While I was in Mexico, I did a ton of reading. My favorite book that I read while on vacation was The Circle. It really made me think about how and why I use technology and social media. I highly recommend it to everyone, especially those who find themselves using social media frequently. I cannot recommend it enough, it is a really great story and has some important messages and things to think about.

I am reading two books right now that I am really enjoying. The first is Why Not Me, Mindy Kaling’s second book. I read her other book a few years ago and absolutely loved it, and this book has not dissapointed! Mindy Kaling has such a great voice and is so funny. This book is a great summer read. I am also reading Where’d You Go, Bernadette, which has been recommended to me a few times, so I finally am giving it a try. I’m only a few chapters in but am enjoying it so far!




I’ve been really into upbeat music lately. There’s nothing better than a great playlist to start your morning and set the tone for the day. A few songs I’ve been loving lately are… “Summertime” by The Mowgli’s, “Feel it Still” by Portugal. The Man, “40 Day Dream” by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes, “Play That Song” by Train and pretty much anything by Jack Johnson. Three big things in the wellness department this month. First is yoga. I have some back problems and have been going to the chiropractor a lot which has been great, but I thought giving yoga a try would be really helpful for that, as well as a good activity to add to my weekly routine. I’ve done a few classes so far and have been loving it. I forgot how much I missed stretching from my days as a dancer. At first, I was hesitant about all the “ohm”-ing, but I actually really like it.

Second thing in the wellness category is buddha bowls. I’ve been working a lot lately and have also been prepping for when I move back to school next month and have to start cooking on my own. Buddha bowls have been a great way to eat healthy, use a ton of different ingredients and still get enough protein to stay full. They’re also easy to make in advance. A lot of the time, main ingredients from mine come from dinner leftovers!

Buddha bowls are all over Pinterest and are basically salads with greens + grains + veggies and sometimes beans + anything else you can possibly think of. I have a post planned to share a few different variations I make but my favorite one is pictured above with spinach, arugula, tomatoes, mozzerella, grilled chicken, Israeli couscous, basil + pine nut pesto and balsamic.

I don’t know if this quite qualifies as wellness, but I didn’t know where else to put it, and this is my post, so I’ll do what I want, ok? 😉 I’ve been thinking a lot this month about technology, how often I use my devices (outside of work/ school) and why I use them the way I do. Why do I spend so much time on Instagram but so little time doing other, arguably more important things? I’ve been trying to cut out mindless scrolling and only check social media a few times a day. Of course, as a blogger, this can be difficult, but I am making it work. I’ve also been trying to get back into the habit of not looking at my phone before bed.



I move back to Philadelphia to start my sophomore year in a few weeks. I’ll be living in an apartment with two of my best friends and cannot wait!!! I am so excited to be back in the city with my friends but am cherishing the time I have at home since this is my last summer break, ever (still in disbelief about that one).

I have been working a lot this month as a sales associate at the boutique and as a marketing intern for my mom’s company. It’s been really fun getting to experience and learn about marketing and have some more responsibilities outside of the boutique. Between these two jobs, writing for CollegeFashionista and everything for the blog- I’ve been super busy! I love having a big to-do list filled with places to go and people to see, so I’m enjoying it 🙂

I’ve also been squeezing in time to hang out with friends before everyone parts their separate ways for another year of college. I have also had a few bursts of creativity this month, which are always much welcomed. I love sitting down to paint for an afternoon. Lately, I’ve been loving watercolors, which is a fun alternative to the acrylic paint I’m so used to using from school.

There are still quite a few things I want to do before the summer is over, so hopefully I can buckle down and accomplish everything in the next few weeks!

  2. I think this series will become pretty popular,I. enjoyed it ! I’ve been really trying to get out of my comfort zone with playing around with comfort while (trying) to be fashionable, outside of black lol

    1. Yes! There are so many options for Buddha bowls and I love that they can be meal prepped super easily. That’s so exciting about the 30 day yoga challenge! I would just recommend really taking at your own pace and try a lot of different kinds. I’ve found that every teacher I’ve had (all for the same class) has been wildly different. There are tons of different kinds of yoga so give lots of kinds/ classes a try to find what you like! Good luck 🙂
