In spirit of “throw back Thursday”, today I am recapping one of my favorite memories of last summer in preparation for this year– Beauty Editor’s Day. Beauty Editor’s Day is a day sponsored by Look Good Feel Better, an organization dedicated to improve the self-esteem of people going through cancer treatments. On Beauty Editor’s Day, 25 of the best beauty editors and pair them with 25 top makeup and beauty brands at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. Participants can schedule a slot with their favorite magazine for a 20 minute consultation with their beauty editor and also receive a makeup application/ skincare consultation by the beauty brand paired with their magazine of choice. The best part is that this money, plus ten percent of Sak’s beauty sales on that day go straight to LGFB!

When I saw Teen Vogue’s Editor in Chief, Amy Astley, tweet about Beauty Editor’s Day last year, I knew I needed to go. I feel so lucky to be just a short train ride away from the city, so my mom and I made an appointment with Teen Vogue and a week later, we headed into the city. I honestly had no idea what to expect from a beauty editor. I was really thinking I would be meeting a lower-ranked editor and a simple makeover. I don’t think I could have been more wrong.

To begin, the editor present was the editor for Beauty & Health at Teen Vogue. Whoa, talk about starstruck. I have only wanted to work at Teen Vogue since I started reading it when I was 8 years old (you wouldn’t believe the stack of Teen Vogue mags I have…) For anyone who doesn’t know, the current Beauty & Health editor at Teen Vogue is Elaine Welteroth

The first thing I noticed about her was her gorgeous hair. There was some serious hair envy there. Anyways, after I sat down, Elaine, the Dolce & Gabanna makeup artist and I got to talking about what kind of look I was going for and my beauty habits/ routine. Once I was being made up by the amazing D&G makeup artist, Elaine and my convo switched over to fashion and my future career. Elaine gave me unforgettable advice and I will never forget my first Beauty Editor’s Day. Not to mention, I got an amazing makeover by Dolce & Gabanna and have some new favorite beauty products! (take a look at their liquid liner & cinnamon eyeshadow duo– totally worth the price!)

Unfortunately, Teen Vogue will not be attending Beauty Editor’s Day this year, but I will definitely still be going. I haven’t decided 100% on what magazine I will be registering with this year, but I am thinking maybe Glamour, InStyle or Lucky! Go to LGFG’s website for more info!

Let me know if you think you’ll be attending Beauty Editor’s Day by commenting below or emailing me– I’d love to meet you!
