When I saw Teen Vogue’s Editor in Chief, Amy Astley, tweet about Beauty Editor’s Day last year, I knew I needed to go. I feel so lucky to be just a short train ride away from the city, so my mom and I made an appointment with Teen Vogue and a week later, we headed into the city. I honestly had no idea what to expect from a beauty editor. I was really thinking I would be meeting a lower-ranked editor and a simple makeover. I don’t think I could have been more wrong.
To begin, the editor present was the editor for Beauty & Health at Teen Vogue. Whoa, talk about starstruck. I have only wanted to work at Teen Vogue since I started reading it when I was 8 years old (you wouldn’t believe the stack of Teen Vogue mags I have…) For anyone who doesn’t know, the current Beauty & Health editor at Teen Vogue is Elaine Welteroth.
The first thing I noticed about her was her gorgeous hair. There was some serious hair envy there. Anyways, after I sat down, Elaine, the Dolce & Gabanna makeup artist and I got to talking about what kind of look I was going for and my beauty habits/ routine. Once I was being made up by the amazing D&G makeup artist, Elaine and my convo switched over to fashion and my future career. Elaine gave me unforgettable advice and I will never forget my first Beauty Editor’s Day. Not to mention, I got an amazing makeover by Dolce & Gabanna and have some new favorite beauty products! (take a look at their liquid liner & cinnamon eyeshadow duo– totally worth the price!)
Unfortunately, Teen Vogue will not be attending Beauty Editor’s Day this year, but I will definitely still be going. I haven’t decided 100% on what magazine I will be registering with this year, but I am thinking maybe Glamour, InStyle or Lucky! Go to LGFG’s website for more info!
