Parisian Chic

My boss and I have very similar styles and a very similar eye. There are certain trends, looks and styles that the two of us obsess over. As of late, we’ve both been loving the lingerie inspired looks we’ve been seeing on the runway and on the street. Think lace, slip dresses, silk and even pajama-like elements. For my graduation gift, she got me the most beautiful silk top and skirt from ZARA with lace detailing on the bottom. When she gave it to me, she told me that she envisioned me wearing it in Paris, sitting in an outdoor cafe and drinking a cappuccino. That’s the other thing about us: we have these “looks” or “visions” of an outfit, style or trend. We not only envision the girl wearing the dress, we envision how she is wearing it, where she is wearing it and what she is doing.

Of course, I immediately understood her vision for this outfit. Once I put this outfit on, I immediately felt so Parisian. Maybe it was the effortlessly chic element of the silk or the fact that this number was a little trendier than something I usually wear. To me, this outfit completely embodies the effortless, Parisian chic look. The shirt and skirt itself are nothing extravagant, but they make a statement. The rest of my look was very simple: hair pulled back, basic makeup with a bright red lip and simple black heels (but you’ll only see me wearing my black lace-up flats… breaking in new heels on the cobblestone streets of Paris is not the best idea). My simple styling and accessorizing let the clothes do all the talking. We got lucky because our restaurant was close to the Eiffel Tower, so we took some great shots before dinner. Later that night on our walk home, we were able to see it light up and sparkle which was the most magical thing I’ve ever seen.

How would you define Parisian chic style? Comment below! XO, Nicole
